Where to stay while in Seattle

I have been working to pull information together on where people can stay for the wedding. For those coming to town from far off places, we live about an hour away from the actual wedding location. Lisa and I are staying at the guest house of the Farm Kitchen the night before and after the wedding. Other near-by accommodations (according to the wisdom of Google) are here. These also list proximity. You may also wish to check the Poulsbo Chamber of Commerce website to see who they list.

If you would like to stay closer to where we live (right by the airport) here are some places to start.

More likely, however, is that out-of-towners may want to spend a night or two in Downtown Seattle. You can do that, too.

Remember, it's about 20 minutes by car from Seatac to downtown. It's about a 30 minute ferry ride on the Bainbridge Island ferry, then another 20 minute drive to get to the Farm Kitchen. Rental cars are strongly encouraged.

I hope that helps. Please leave a comment (or call) if you have any questions or would like additional information that I have not already provided. Others may have similar questions.

More on where to stay

After taking the time to better look at what sort of places were coming back from Google with the "Where to stay near Seatac" question, I realized that most of the results aren't great places to stay. So, I have done a little bit more research and heres' what I've come up with for Bed & Breakfasts (relatively) near Seatac. Let me start off by saying that there's not much immediately surrounding the airport. That has a wide range of hotels: from nice Business suites (Hilton, Radisson, Double Tree, etc.) to budget motels (Motel 6, Super 8, Days Inn), to scary places (Jet Motel, Seatac Inn; maybe they look fine on the inside, but the outside makes me want to run away). So, I'm going to try to list things that are within about 10-20 minutes of Seatac. I'll also try to group them by neighborhood, closest to more distant.

Normandy Park is a wealthier community that has a lot of views of Puget Sound and Vashon Island.

Kent is east across the valley from Seatac. It's a short drive from the airport and still quite easy to get to downtown Seattle. I probably would not be recommending anything in the Kent area, except this one location seems to stand out as being a really interesting house on a historic lot (it still has a good sized lot that has not been completely subdivided).

West Seattle is a bedroom community for downtown Seattle. It has really grown in the last several years, taking on a much heavier metropolitan feel.

I've left out anything in the downtown area. There are a lot of options around there. Here is a starting point.

Gift registration

We've had a difficult time trying to find the right things to register for. So far, we have registered for china and flat wear at J.F. Henry in West Seattle. They do not offer online sales, but you can call and give them Lisa's or my name and they will know what we have registered for. Just for the curious, we have picked Lenox's Opal Innocence for our china.

We have also registered at The Home Depot and Giam.
